elearning is no didactical silver bullet, but it has obviously the potential for the realization of learning characteristics, which are considered as groundbreaking for the development of a new learning culture since over one decade.

Personal reputation has been a means of making socioeconomic decisions for thousands of years. The difference today is that network technologies are digitally enabling the trust we used to experience face-to-face [...].

Information comes from everywhere now: the university is no longer the gatekeeper of information, as it has been since the Renaissance. And if it were, the only thing we would need to do is videotape the best lectures and put them online [...]. But ultimately, learning is a social experience. Harvard is Harvard not because of the buildings, not because of the professors, but because of the students interacting with one another.
The application of the SEE in my courses was for both, lecturer and student, an advantage: immediate feedback, readable answers to examination questions, faster corrections as well as many organizational reliefs.
Bollin Andreas, Assoc.Prof. Dipl.-Ing. Dr.
My experience is: Once online exams, always online exams. It is an immense relief for myself as a lecturer (no painful decoding of “hieroglyphs”, easier and (much!) faster grading of exams) und also the feedback of students is consistently positive. Last but not least, I have to mention the phenomenal support through the department of elearning, before, during as well as after the exam. I can absolutely recommend online exams.
von Elverfeldt Kirsten, Ass.-Prof. Dr.
The execution of an online exam with the Secure-Exam-Environment is an enormous support and load removal. In this manner, we tested a large number of students and could give them within a few hours their exam results as well as the possibility to inspect their examination records. This is especially important for a course that is part of the study entry phase with a lot of attendance. And the support by the department of elearning is great. It is not only restricted to the “technical execution”, but it is an enormous relief during the examination supervision.
Hattenberger Doris, Ass.-Prof. Mag. Dr.
The automatic grading and the possibility to immediately inspect the examination records, as soon as the test is closed, is an enormous workload relief and massive gain in time, for both, lecturers and students.
Neck Reinhard, O.Univ.-Prof. Mag. Dr.
As lecturer of the course “Introduction to Business Management” with over 500 students, the SEE has become for me an indispensable tool for a fair, transparent and efficient execution of exams. Also the professionalism and cordialness of the elearning team at the AAU has to be highlighted.
